Hi, my name is Kat(y) and I turned 35 on March 1.
I don't know about you, but in my 35 years, I've never experienced pervasive thirst. Even with this drought, clean water still comes out of the facet. Hell, even the water in our toilets is clean!
Across the globe it's a different story. EVERY FREAKIN DAY, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation.
I started this fundraising campaign because I don't need anymore "stuff" for my birthday. I also have plenty of water and as a Pisces, I LOVE water. So, if you're moved to help, $3 or $5 spent towards this instead of Starbucks could do a great deal of good. $35 provides water for one person.
100% of the money will be used to build clean water projects, and when they’re complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the exact community we helped. (For real. 100%. They have a separate annuity to handle the office expenses.)
If you want to get super fired up about this, listen to Rob Bell's interview of Scott Harrison, charity:water's founder.

Good for you! Happy late birthday!
Rob Bell interviews the founder of charity:water and it is magical. You will be so fired up: http://robbell.podbean.com/e/episode-29-water-for-everyone-the-scott-harrison-interview/
The $250 goal will provide approximately 8 people with fresh, clean water.
