Assalamu Alaikum & Ramadan Mubarak,

Many of us have no idea what it's like to be thirsty. We have plenty of water to drink -- even the water in our toilets is clean!

But many people around the world don’t have that luxury. Every day, about 1,400 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation. But it doesn’t have to be that way. There are simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protections and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world.

Gather the rewards of Ramadan!

This Ramadan, you can help a community by donating towards one of our many initiatives designed to provide clean, safe drinking water for families and entire communities.

We look forward to quenching our own thirst at the end of a long day of fasting, so imagine the rewards for doing the same for others who have no access to clean water at all.

Indeed, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “The best charity is giving water to drink.” [Ahmad] and he was also the most generous in giving charity in Ramadan.

Your Zakat and Sadaqah donations will not just give water to those in need; your donations will give life to people, animals and crops thereby regenerating whole communities, so please give generously.

Lastly, investing in water projects also makes an excellent form of Sadaqa Jaariya for loved ones (including those who have passed away), as both you and the recipient continue reaping rewards as long as the project is bringing benefit to people, animals and crops.

Sa’d ibn Ubadah reported: “He said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, the mother of Sa’d has died, so what is the best charity I may give on her behalf?’ The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, ‘Water.’ Sa’d dug a well and he said, ‘This is for the mother of Sa’d.’“ [Abu Dawud]
